Comments

The ever popular Marlin 30-30 is considered by most to be the ultimate firearm to use in short distant, brushy conditions. Until recently its tubular magazine forced the use of flat-nosed bullets since during recoil, spitzer or other like pointed bullets have the risk of igniting the primer in the bullet ahead of it causing chain reaction ignition throughout the magazine. Flat-nosed bullets are notoriously inaccuracy beyond 150 Yards.

Hornady now sells rubber tipped spitzer bullets specifically designed for use in tubular magazines. These have proven to be as accurate as other pointed bullets using in box type magazines found in 30-06 and other popular sporting rifles moving the 30-30 into the class of long-range open-field firearms.
